Battle of Fredericksburg - Results posted

The 2nd Annual "Battle of Fredericksburg" Homebrew competition was held on Saturday, the 2nd of April.  Over 260 homebrewed beers were judged over four judging sessions, culminating in the Best of show at Spencer Devon Brewing company in Fredericvksburg, VA.  Results for the competition are posted on the Competition webesite at http://www.fredhomebrew.org/BOF2016/.

We also held a fantastic raffle featuring tons of great homebrew gear and schwag.  We received a generous response from our 97 sponsors who donated lots of great prizes.  Please browse the list of sponsors and show them how much you appreciate them by purchasing something.

The 2nd Annual Battle of Fredericksburg

The Fredericksburg Brewing Insiders (FBI) will be hosting our 2nd Annual "Battle of Fredericksburg" homebrew competition on Saturday, 2 April 2016 at Spencer Devon Brewing (http://www.spencerdevonbrewing.com).  Spencer Devon is located in historic downtown Fredericksburg, VA. (map)

This AHA registered competition is open to all 2008 BJCP beer styles.  Judging will begin at 9:00am and will consist of morning and afternoon flights.  Following the afternoon flight (during the BOS judging) the FBI will hold the Battle of Fredericksburg raffle with some fantastic prizes.  At 5:00pm, the awards ceremony will be held to present medals and prizes to all of the winners. 

Entries may be registered from Wednesday, February 17 through Friday, March 18 by logging into the Competition website http://fredhomebrew.org/BOF2016/.  Entries are $7 each, but if you volunteer to judge or steward, your entries will be discounted to $5 each.  Contact the club president for the steward/judge discount code, This email address is being protected from spambots. Registration for judges and stewards is online at http://fredhomebrew.org/BOF2016/ and will close on Saturday, March 26, 2016.  Coffee, juice and a light continental breakfast will be provided before the event, and a great catered lunch from Spencer Devon will be provided for all judges and stewards.
  
We welcome judges and stewards of all levels and will strive to pair newer judges/stewards with experienced judges to improve the knowledge and skills of new judges and provide equitable judging experience between tables.  Our priority is providing quality score sheets to competition entrants, so we will welcome anyone who shares our committment to quality beer evaluation to judge at this event!

Learn to Homebrew Day 2015

 

Please join the members of the Fredericksburg Brewing Insider (FBI) Homebrew Club for the 17th annual American Homebrewers Association "Learn to Homebrew Day!" This is a FREE family event with hots dogs, chips, chili, homebrew samples and demonstrations on the art of homebrewing. Our goal is to show friends the art of brewing your own beer at home and to help spread the joy of homebrewing. This event is being held between 11:00 AM and 3:00 PM on November 7th, 2015 at "The Brew Shop" located Pierson Dr. Fredericksburg, Va. 22408.  Click here for the AHA flyer for this National Celebration of our hobby.

 


 

   

Fredericksburg Fall Brewfest 2015

 

The Fredericksburg Fall Brewfest was held on Saturday October, 17th at the Fredericksburg Fairgrounds, 2400 Airport Ave.Fredericksburg, VA 22401.  In addition to the great weather, there was great Craft beer and fun for all.  There were more than 40 craft breweries with more than 80 samples.  In addition to the professional craft breweries, the Fredericksburg Brewing Insiders (FBI) had 17 hand-crafted lagers and ales available for tasting.  Many of the patrons of the festival commented that the homebrewed beers were better than the commercial beers!.  Many thanks to our fans.  Look for the FBI to be serving plenty of great beer in the spring.  There was also a Live Brewing Demonstration, sponsored by The Brew Shop.  Check out the photos on Facebook.

 


 

21st Amendment Celebration 2015

 

Spencer Devon Brewery hosted a special homebrew event on October 14 to celebrate the signing of a bill which amended the 21st Amendment of the U.S. Constitution, allowing the legal production of homebrewed beer.  The event was created to educate the public about home brewing and the artistry of craft beer. FBI members served as ambassadors and homebrewers and served some of the finest homebrewed beer to local Fredericksburg patrons.  Check out the event on Facebook.
